YYoga has big plans for Telus Garden

YYoga, a Vancouver-based yoga and wellness company, will open a 20,000-square-foot centre in the Telus Garden residential tower.

The new centre, announced last week, will include yoga studios, including hot yoga rooms, a 20-metre outdoor pool and hot tub and an out-door terrace and amenity space with a kitchen. It will be located on the third floor of the 53-storey tower at the corner of Robson and Richards.

The general public can purchase memberships to the centre, with the tower scheduled for completion in 2015.

The $750-million, one-million-square-foot Telus Garden project involves the redevelopment of the entire city block bounded by Robson, Georgia, Seymour and Richards streets and will incorporate the residential tower, an office tower and retail space.

The residential tower’s 428 condos sold out in about a week in March. “We are excited about this initiative, and what it means for YYoga,” said CEO Terry McBride, in a statement.

“The Telus Garden YYoga partnership will encourage new ways to cultivate community and the perfect work-life balance, which matches our promise to provide an environment centered on wellness and quality and rooted in community. Being a part of this project is directly in line with the YYoga vision for growth and expansion, not only in Vancouver, but across North America.”

“[YYoga’s] guest-focused approach to yoga and goal to encourage healthy lifestyles mirrors Telus’s commitment to putting our customers first and building healthy, sustainable communities,” added Andrea Goertz, senior vice-president, Telus Strategic Initiatives, in a statement.
