Cushman & Wakefield (C&W) has been selected by TELUS and Westbank to lease out Vancouver’s most prominent office development. TELUS Garden, targeted to be Canada’s first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum building based on the new 2009 standards, is a one-million square foot mixed-use development that will occupy nearly an entire city block. It is the cornerstone for the commercial resurgence of West Georgia and Robson streets in downtown Vancouver’s financial core.
“Given the extremely limited availability of Class AAA space in Vancouver’s central business district, we are very excited to be working with TELUS and Westbank on this new development,” said Mark Chambers, senior vice-president, C&W Vancouver. “TELUS Garden will help provide relief to the tight office space market by creating significant new blocks of prime office space in downtown Vancouver and give companies looking for large, adjoining space an unmatched option for relocation or expansion. We believe TELUS Garden will be a landmark project that sets the standard for next-generation office development in the city when complete in 2014.”
The new 24-storey tower will be approximately 500,000 square feet, and include green building systems and leading-edge TELUS technology, creating unparalleled opportunities for tenants to reduce their environmental impact while offering their teams efficient, collaborative and modern working space.
C&W has been working with TELUS in an advisory capacity on this exciting new development since the concept was first envisioned in 2010. With the selection of Westbank , one of the most experienced urban development firms in Vancouver, and renowned architects Henriquez Partners Architects this initial planning led to the vision of a new office development combined with a residential tower.
“We are thrilled to be working alongside a world-leading firm such as Cushman & Wakefield who share our values and vision for what will be one of Canada’s premier office towers,” said Andrea Goertz, TELUS senior vice-president, Strategic Initiatives. “TELUS Garden will cultivate a new way of working and become a landmark address for businesses in downtown Vancouver.”
“Partnering with companies that share similar values and cultures to ours is really important to us,” added Chambers. “TELUS and Westbank are both known to be creative, innovative, leading-edge and involved in the community. With those ideals in mind, the partnership is a natural fit for us.”
